Toxic (Hindi) Opening Day Estimates: Yash smashes the box office with Rs. 50 crore on Day 1

The Geethu Mohandas directed Toxic starring Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi, has set the box office on fire in Hindi, surpassing all pre-release expectations. According to early estimates, the action-packed thriller has collected in the range of Rs. 48 crore to Rs. 52 crore on Wednesday, thereby emerging the biggest opening of all time for a non-franchise South dubbed feature film. The film has established Rocking Star Yash as one of the biggest crowd pullers in the Hindi markets, capitalising on the historic success of the KGF franchise. The pre-release expectations were in the range of Rs. 30 crore, but Toxic has decimated all estimates to emerge and join the prestigious Rs. 50 crore-plus box office club. The film has collected around Rs. 20 crore in the top 3 national chains - which has contributed around 40 per cent to the total business. The reports are not positive, and the cracks are already visible in the advance booking trends for the second day...

Awarapan 2 has continued its strong run at the box office after its opening weekend, with the Emraan Hashmi starrer recording Rs. 8.89 crore on its first Monday. The film has consequently emerged as the fourth-highest first Monday grosser of 2026, putting it ahead of several major Hindi releases of the year. The Monday hold is particularly encouraging because it indicates that the film's strong weekend business has translated into weekday footfalls. Awarapan 2 has collected Rs. 8.89 crore, edging past Welcome To The Jungle, which recorded Rs. 8.24 crore, and Dhamaal 4, which earned Rs. 8.18 crore on their respective first Mondays. The Emraan Hashmi starrer is therefore ahead of the two films by 7.9% and 8.7%, respectively. At the top of the chart, Border 2 remains the year's biggest first Monday grosser with a massive Rs. 63.59 crore, followed by Dhurandhar: The Revenge at Rs. 59 crore. Spider-Man: Brand New Day occupies the third spot with Rs. 23.30 crore, meaning Awarapan 2 ...

UNBELIEVABLE! Awarapan 2 crosses Emraan Hashmi’s 20-year career peak in a SINGLE weekend; becomes his BIGGEST grosser EVER in just 3 DAYS!

Emraan Hashmi has achieved a career-defining box office milestone with Awarapan 2. Just three days after its release, the action entertainer has emerged as the highest-grossing film of Hashmi's career, surpassing the lifetime collections of The Dirty Picture. Awarapan 2 has collected Rs. 82.09 crore in its opening weekend, taking it past The Dirty Picture, which ended its theatrical run at Rs. 80 crore. The film has therefore rewritten Hashmi's career-best benchmark within just three days, an impressive turnaround for an actor whose biggest theatrical successes came largely during the 2000s and early 2010s. The scale of the achievement becomes more striking when viewed against Hashmi's other major performers. Baadshaho stands at Rs. 78.10 crore, followed by Raaz 3 at Rs. 70.07 crore and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai at Rs. 55.47 crore. Murder 2 collected Rs. 47.90 crore, while Jannat 2 finished at Rs. 42.50 crore. What makes Awarapan 2's run particularly significant is t...

Awarapan 2 sells 6 TIMES more tickets than Batwara 1947, yet gets just 282 more shows; PVR INOX showcasing raises questions

The Friday release battle has once again brought the spotlight on the showcasing power vested with PVRInox’s distribution team. According to independent trade sources, Awarapan 2 has been allotted 9,505 shows nationwide, only marginally ahead of Batwara 1947, which is playing on 9,223 shows. On paper, the two films appear to have received similar showcasing. However, the advance booking numbers paint a dramatically different picture across the board. Across the national multiplex chains, Awarapan 2 has sold approximately 1.25 lakh tickets for Friday, while Batwara 1947 has managed only around 21,000 admissions. Despite commanding nearly six times the advance booking, Awarapan 2 has not been rewarded with a proportionately larger number of shows. Industry observers point out that Awarapan 2 was always planned as a wide commercial release and, based on its demand, should ideally have been playing in the vicinity of 14,000 shows nationwide. Instead, the film has been capped at around 9,5...

Awarapan 2 races ahead of Batwara 1947 in advance bookings; Emraan Hashmi-starrer sells 68,000 tickets vs Sunny Deol film’s 37,600

The much-awaited Awarapan 2 has registered impressive advance sales, bringing cheer to the trade and industry. Its predecessor, Awarapan (2007), underperformed during its theatrical run, but over the years, it attained cult status, thanks to its emotional and mass-appealing moments, memorable music and Emraan Hashmi’s much-loved performance. The promotional assets of the sequel have also struck a chord with audiences, resulting in encouraging advance bookings. As per data accessed by Bollywood Hungama, as of 9:00 pm on August 11, Awarapan 2 had sold nearly 68,000 tickets, with gross ticket sales amounting to approximately Rs. 2.20 crores. What’s noteworthy is the pace at which bookings picked up through the day. On the morning of August 11, around 18,000 tickets had been sold, meaning the tally increased by nearly 50,000 tickets in a matter of hours. With two days remaining for release, the film is expected to cross the 1 lakh-ticket mark soon if the momentum continues. Meanwhile, Bat...

The numbers don’t lie! Akshay Kumar is BACK: Average box-office collection jumps to Rs. 150 crore; 2026 could be his biggest year post-2019

Comebacks in the film industry are often declared on the strength of one successful Friday. In Akshay Kumar’s case, however, the revival is no longer dependent on a single film, franchise or favourable weekend. It is visible across releases, across years and, most importantly, in the dramatic rise in his average box-office collection per movie. After enduring arguably the most challenging phase of his career between 2022 and 2024, Akshay Kumar has engineered a remarkable turnaround. The superstar has not merely returned to delivering successful films; he has substantially raised the minimum level at which his films are now performing. And the number crunching by Bollywood Hungama tells a fascinating story. Between 2022 and 2024, Akshay Kumar appeared in ten theatrical releases, which collectively earned approximately Rs. 484.84 crores at the India box office. This translated into an average of Rs. 48.48 crores per film. In 2025, Akshay’s four releases Sky Force, Kesari Chapter 2, Hous...

Main Vaapas Aaunga is nearing the end of its impressive theatrical journey. The film collected Rs. 5 lakhs in its eighth weekend, taking its cumulative box office collections to Rs. 65.22 crores. The film collected Rs. 1 lakh on its eighth Friday, followed by Rs. 2 lakhs each on Saturday and Sunday. As a result, its eighth-weekend collections amounted to Rs. 5 lakhs. Eighth weekend breakdown: Friday – Rs. 0.01 cr. Saturday – Rs. 0.02 cr. Sunday – Rs. 0.02 cr. Notably, Bollywood Hungama had predicted that Main Vaapas Aaunga would conclude its theatrical run with lifetime collections in the range of Rs. 64 to Rs. 66 crores. With the film’s total now standing at Rs. 65.22 crores, the prediction has proved to be accurate. The film is unlikely to add significantly to its total from this point, given the limited number of shows and the arrival of newer releases. Nevertheless, its ability to remain in cinemas for eight weekends underlines its strong word of mouth and sustained audience appre...

Box Office: Spider-Man: Brand New Day defies all norms; Tom Holland starrer hits Rs. 80 crores on Sunday

The Tom Holland led Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on a spectacular run at the box office in India. After collecting Rs. 180 crores over the 3-day opening weekend, the superhero film has gone all out on Sunday, scoring in the range of Rs. 78 crores to Rs. 80 crores taking the 4-day extended opening weekend collection to around Rs. 260 crores. The film ran riot all across the board - ranging from the single screens to the urban areas - and overperformed vis-a-vis the projections. For the record, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has clocked the biggest opening weekend of all time for a Hollywood film in India, as also the biggest of all time for a superhero film. The multiplexes have contributed about 50 per cent to the total business all through the weekend, and the Tom Holland starrer is expected to show a strong hold in collections on Monday as well. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will emerge as the #1 Hollywood Film of all time by going by the lifetime collections of Avatar: The Way of Water (Rs....

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office: Film scripts history with record-breaking Rs. 61.52 cr opening day; becomes India’s biggest Hollywood opener of all time

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung into the record books with an extraordinary opening day performance at the Indian box office. The superhero spectacle collected Rs. 61.52 crores on its first day, making it the highest opening day grosser ever for a Hollywood film in India. In doing so, the latest Spider-Man adventure has comfortably eclipsed the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame, which had opened to Rs. 53.10 crores in 2019. The difference of over Rs. 8 crores underlines just how massive the film's debut has been, especially considering Endgame had long been regarded as the benchmark for Hollywood releases in the country. The scale of the achievement becomes even more evident when compared with the rest of the all-time list. Avatar: The Way of Water follows in third place with an opening day collection of Rs. 40 crores, while Spider-Man: No Way Home had begun its run with Rs. 32.67 crores. Avengers: Infinity War rounds off the top five with Rs. 31.30 crores, meaning Bra...

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office Prediction: All set for a BLOCKBUSTER start in India, to collect Rs. 55-60 crores on its opening day

Four and a half months after Dhurandhar The Revenge, Indian box office will evidence its biggest arrival in theatres in the form of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Such is the ‘brand value’ of this franchise that without any active promotion or marketing whatsoever, it’s just the very title of the film which has resulted in massive advance bookings for weeks prior to release. Moreover, last one week has seen ticket sales already with more than 10,000 tickets disappearing every hour and since yesterday, the trending for most part of the day has been 20,000+. All of this means that a blockbuster start is assured for this Marvel movie, which has so much of goodwill going for it, especially after Tom Holland’s visit to India, albeit for a different movie, The Odyssey. It would suffice to say that even if this visit wouldn’t have happened, the opening day would still have headed for a mammoth score. Spider-Man is one character which has survived for generations and is really loveable for everyo...

Brand New Day establishes Spider-Man as the most loved superhero of India, and also sets up the Marvel Cinematic Universe for their biggest and most ambitious - Avengers: Doomsday. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has spectacular pre-sales outside of the national chains too, which suggests universal demand for the film all across the board. All eyes on the content, as if the film lands as big a...

2026 Half-Yearly Box Office classification: Dhurandhar 2 is an All Time Blockbuster; Border 2 Super-Hit, Bhooth Bangla a Hit

The first half of 2026 has been an eventful period for the Hindi film box office. While the industry witnessed a wide range of releases across genres, scales and star combinations, the commercial picture becomes particularly interesting when one looks at the classification of some of the key titles that arrived in cinemas between January and June. Bollywood Hungama’s half-yearly box office classification of select 2026 releases offers a clear snapshot of how the market behaved in the first six months. The trend is evident: event films and franchise-driven entertainers continued to dominate the theatrical landscape, while several mid-range films found it difficult to convert visibility into decisive box office success. The biggest title in this classification is undoubtedly Dhurandhar - The Revenge. Starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, the film emerged as an All Time Blockbuster with a reported lifetime collection of Rs. 1108.09 crore. Its performance single-handedly altered the comp...

Raid 2 Box Office: Ajay Devgn starrer grows quite well on Saturday, comes close to Thursday numbers

Raid 2 has been accepted well by the audiences. The film is finding good footfalls and is doing well all over with steady collections. Of course it has been released widely but as has been seen in the past, just that doesn’t guarantee good numbers. At the end of the day, there needs to be audience interest in the film as well and considering the fact that this is the third day running and still the numbers are quite good, it goes on to show that the film will run for a while at least. On its opening day the film had collected Rs. 19.71 crores and now the third day numbers also stand at Rs. 18.55 crores, which is impressive. The film needed to be as close as possible to the first day and it has managed to do that, which means tomorrow is going to be the best day of its run so far. Otherwise, it has been seen so many times that the first day, especially when it’s on a holiday, stays on to be the best day at the box office. That’s not the case there as it would be Sunday on which this wi...

Raid 2 Box Office: Ajay Devgn starrer does very well on Friday, scores in double digits again

After doing quite well on Thursday when Rs. 19.71 crores came in, Raid 2 did well on Friday too by comfortably going past the double digit mark. That seemed to be on the cards as well since the opening day numbers had anyways exceeded expectations which had taken it much higher up the charts. This meant that even if a drop of 50% came in due to Friday being a regular working day, the collections would still have been around Rs. 10 crores. The Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh starrer did better than that as the drop was much lesser than 50%, and as a result as much as Rs. 13.05 crores came in. In the current times, even if this would have been Thursday number of the film (especially without the holiday factor), then it would have been considered good and here it’s coming when this is not just a working day but also the second day in the running at theatres. The collections so far stand at Rs. 32.76 crores. Today, the film will grow well again, though it has to be seen that how much clo...

Raid 2 Box Office: Film emerges as Ajay Devgn's fourth highest all-time opening day grosser

Bollywood’s action icon Ajay Devgn has added another feather to his already decorated cap with the impressive opening of his latest release, Raid 2. The much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit Raid hit the ground running with an opening day collection of Rs. 19.71 crore, securing its position as Devgn’s fourth-highest all-time opening day grosser. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 sees Devgn return as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, this time confronting more formidable forces of corruption and power. Backed by compelling performances from Vaani Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Rajesh Sharma, Saurabh Shukla, and Amit Sial, and produced by T-Series and Panorama Studios, the film is already being hailed for its tight narrative, action-packed storytelling, and social relevance. While the film's Rs. 19.71 crore opening is noteworthy on its own, it becomes even more impressive when placed alongside Ajay Devgn’s historical box office track record. In fact, Raid 2 opened 21.2% higher than Total Dh...
