Selfiee Box Office Day 1: Akshay Kumar – Emraan Hashmi starrer has a surprisingly low start

It was a surprisingly low start for Selfiee which was expected to take a decent start at least. While Rs. 8-10 crores would have been a fair enough beginning for the film, by the time the release date was nearing it had started seeming that Friday numbers would be more in Rs. 6-8 crores. Though that wouldn’t have done justice to the super stardom that Akshay Kumar carries, considering the fact that this is a film which warrants positive word mouth to help the collections jump well; at least there would have been some numbers on the charts. However what transpired at the box office was truly shocking as the first day numbers were just around Rs. 2.55 crores. This is just not a comprehendible number since the trailer was liked, the songs had started catching up (especially Kudiye No Teri), Akshay Kumar was leading from the front, Emraan Hashmi was looking earnest, director Raj Mehta has delivered a blockbuster Good Newwz and a decent runner JugJugg Jeeyo and very importantly big forces like Dharma Productions and Star Studios were backing it up. Even with limited traction amongst the audiences, the film should have seen some sort of numbers at least. The film is certainly better than so many other products that arrive straight on OTT and this one does have a cinematic quotient to it which makes it a good theatrical watch. However, for that the numbers not just need to double but even triple in days to come. The good thing is that the film has two open weeks ahead of it. However for that it would need to generate tremendous word of mouth in such quick time that the turnaround turns out to be truly magical and unprecedented. Gulshan Devaiah starts shooting Ulajh with Janhvi Kapoor and Roshan Mathew; says I am playing a complicated part

Gulshan Devaiah has started shooting for his upcoming film Ulajh. The movie has Janhvi Kapoor and Roshan Mathew as his co-stars. Since the movie is about Indian Foreign Services (IFS), the major portion of the shoot is expected to be done in various foreign locations. Sharing his reaction on the commencement of the film’s shoot, Gulshan said in a statement, “It’s been a good year for me so far and Ulajh has a great cast put together and I’m really looking forward to filming this film with them.
