SatyaPrem Ki Katha Box Office: Film opens better than expected word of mouth is quite good; collects Rs. 9.25 cr on Day 1

A couple of days back it was predicted in this column that SatyaPrem Ki Katha will open in Rs. 7-9 crores range. That was given the fact that the film isn’t one of those breezy love stories with all fun-n-frolic that one usually associated with stars like Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani coming together. Instead, this came across as a rather intense affair which would have humour to begin with but then will get serious as the drama progressed. Hence, expectations were kept under control and anything over Rs. 7 crores would have been considered fair.

Well, as it has happened, the film has done better than expected with Rs. 9.25 crores coming on the first day. Yes, a double digit is a parameter one associates with a film that carries such credentials but then due to reasons mentioned above, what it needed was a start from where it could consolidate and that has happened indeed, which is a step in the positive direction. Moreover, the film also came at regular ticket pricing with no 1+1 or any other offer.

What’s required now is that the film goes on to sustain well and then manages an extended weekend of around Rs. 40 crores. Though the collections would dip a little today since unlike yesterday’s partial holiday of Eid it’s a regular Friday, collections should jump tomorrow and day after. One now waits to see that on which of these days a double digit score will come since post that it would be all about sustaining from Monday onwards.

Gulshan Devaiah starts shooting Ulajh with Janhvi Kapoor and Roshan Mathew; says I am playing a complicated part

Gulshan Devaiah has started shooting for his upcoming film Ulajh. The movie has Janhvi Kapoor and Roshan Mathew as his co-stars. Since the movie is about Indian Foreign Services (IFS), the major portion of the shoot is expected to be done in various foreign locations.
