Box Office: Oppenheimer and Barbie bring in almost Rs. 10 crores on Monday too

It was an overall good day at the box office yet again, what with Oppenheimer and Barbie coming together and bringing in almost Rs. 10 crores. Had these been the first day collections for the Hollywood biggies then even that would have been a reason to celebrate as at least footfalls were coming in to help exhibitors and distributors survive. However, considering the fact that right through the weekend an average of over 20 crores per day was maintained meant that even with a 50% fall, the absolute numbers still look good.

Oppenheimer has been continuing to do well and on Monday as Rs. 7 crores* more came in. The film was, in fact, powered a lot by the advance booking as well, especially at the premium IMAX properties, where number of shows are in fact sold out not just for the weekdays but even right till the second weekend too. That said, there is still a major chunk of moolah coming from other major screens. Yes, given the advance booking, a number in the range of Rs. 8-9 crores would have been more apt as that would have meant that there is steady spot booking as well. Still, where the film has reached so far is quite good too with Rs. 56 crores* already in.

On the other hand, Barbie has also crossed the Rs. 20 crores milestone now and currently stands at Rs. 21 crores*. The film had a decent Monday for itself with Rs. 2.5 crores*. Again, while it’s a drop of almost 50% from Friday, it’s still fair. Moreover, it wasn’t powered by any major advance booking for Monday, which shows that spot footfalls are more optimal in this case. In West, the film is already quite huge and though in India it will find itself eventually in Rs. 35-40 crores lifetime range, it would still be quite good for the genre it belongs to.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
