Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani Box Office: Film collects Rs. 11.10 cr on Day 1; emerges as Ranveer Singh’s 8th highest opening day grosser

The much talked about and keenly anticipated Ranveer Singh – Ali Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani finally hit screens yesterday. The film which marks Karan Johar’s return to direction after a long time, has been in the news since its announcement. In fact, nearing its release the film has been surrounded by immense hype and anticipation. But did this translate to box office numbers is the question.

In this box office report, we look at the box office collections of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani on its opening day while comparing the same to Ranveer Singh’s previous releases. Interestingly, with positive reviews and good audience word of mouth Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani has opened on a good note collecting Rs. 11.10 cr. With this, the film has emerged as Ranveer Singh’s eight highest opening day grosser. In fact, the film has performed better than the actor’s previous releases like Dil Dhadakne Do that collected Rs. 10.53 cr and Befikre which collected Rs. 10.36 cr. However, the business of the film does not surpass his previous releases like Padmaavat which Rs. 24 cr, Simmba which collected Rs. 20.72 cr, Gully Boy which collected Rs. 19.40 cr, Gunday which collected Rs. 16.12 cr, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela which collected Rs. 16 cr, Bajirao Mastani which collected Rs. 12.80 cr, and 83 which had collected Rs. 12.64 cr.

As of now, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani which enjoys strong word of mouth is expected to see its collections grow over the weekend. While on Day 1 the business saw a massive response from metros, trade expectations state that on the second and third day running the business of the film is likely to see an increase in footfalls in mass dominated sectors. In fact, early estimates state that Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani could see between Rs. 14-15 cr coming in on Day 2.
