Dream Girl 2 Box Office: Ayushmann Khurrana starrer is a hit

It’s a hit.

After a series of commercial disappointments, Ayushmann Khurrana can rejoice. His Dream Girl 2 has been having a good run at the box office and the best part is that the numbers were not just restricted to the opening day but even the weekend has seen good growth, something that lends confidence that the film will keep playing on well, at least, till the release of Jawan.

After starting at Rs. 10.69 crores on Friday, the film has reached Rs. 16 crores on Sunday, which is good growth indeed. Yes, his biggest Sunday still stays on to be Bala which saw Rs 18.07 crores coming in. However, that was pre-pandemic when such mid-budget comedies had many takers in theatres. In the entire 2023, there hasn’t been a single out and out comedy success and the fact that Dream Girl 2 has reopened this genre is good news in itself. That, at least, gives hope that there will be more movies made with this kind of set up.

What’s all the more commendable is that the Raaj Shaandilya and Ekta Kapoor film has managed to bring in these kind of numbers despite the Gadar 2 wave, and has in fact even gone one up over it with Rs. 40.71 crores in its kitty. Otherwise it wouldn’t have been surprising if Gadar 2 would have continued ruling the charts this week as well. There isn’t much to separate the two films though, which means the weekdays too would see a close battle; something that will only help the industry further.
