Dream Girl 2 Box Office: Opens bigger than Dream Girl, set for a winning run

Dream Girl 2 has done it. The film, which was marketed and promoted quite well during last few months, has embarked on a very good start. For a comedy genre, it’s always quite difficult to open in double digits and here Dream Girl 2 has done that well with Rs. 10.69 crores in its kitty. It was expected that a start in the range of Rs. 9-10 crores would come for the film with a possibility of the film going a little ahead of that as well on the basis of word of mouth. Well, this is what has happened and that’s good news all over again for the industry.

For long, the industry had been reeling with a series of flops and disasters and there was doomsday being predicted. In fact, some cynics even went on to predict that the entire 2023 would be bomb-shelled and the change would start coming only in 2024. There were all sort of theories being circulated, especially the one around how only big ticket event films would succeed. Well, right from a film like The Kerala Story in May (which opened the floodgates) to now Dream Girl 2 in August (which is continuing the good run), the detractors couldn’t have been more wrong.

In fact, for Ayushmann Khurrana, Raaj Shaandilyaa and Ekta Kapoor there is a lot to cheer since their Dream Girl 2 has opened even bigger than Dream Girl, which had taken a start of Rs. 10.05 crores. Back then, it had enjoyed a first weekend of Rs. 44.57 crores and that’s the first target which the newest instalment would be aiming to achieve.

Gulshan Devaiah starts shooting Ulajh with Janhvi Kapoor and Roshan Mathew; says I am playing a complicated part

Gulshan Devaiah has started shooting for his upcoming film Ulajh. The movie has Janhvi Kapoor and Roshan Mathew as his co-stars. Since the movie is about Indian Foreign Services (IFS), the major portion of the shoot is expected to be done in various foreign locations. Sharing his reaction on the commencement of the film’s shoot, Gulshan said in a statement, “It’s been a good year for me so far and Ulajh has a great cast put together and I’m really looking forward to filming this film with them.
